Cubbit is a startup looking to revolutionize the cloud world through distributed networking.
As Head of Product, I worked on building an initial public MVP of the mobile app. Our target audience was the people who believed in Cubbit, who are using the service from desktop and who are waiting for the mobile app with insistence.
The goal was then to create the best possible MVP for the needs of our users, trying to improve the user experience even after some known technical issues in the desktop version that impact the stability and usability of the service.
So I defined a first flow to get to the achievement of the set goals. We assumed that for the Cubbit service based on sync & share the basic things for a usable MVP were:
Once we defined a hypothetical usage flow through the use of Cubbit's design system, we quickly arrived at a first working prototype that we could test with users. The tests were focused on intercepting the usage needs of our users but also to understand the stability and performance of the app.
The tests showed some technical problems related to sync logic but the level of satisfaction was higher than expected. The interface and ease of use played a key role in this. It was useful for us to highlight and investigate technical problems we already knew about and to identify some use cases of our users that we had not considered. Automatic backup of the photo library was the most requested feature, users try to search for it within the interface. The management of download queues is not very clear to apple users who find downloaded photos inside the File app.
The app is still work in progress, we are running a few iteration cycles on the new version. It will be available for Android and iOS soon.
